I’ve seen this so many times and the amount of people that think it’s some epiphany about our “misogynist” society is unreal.
They’re advertising a product. They have people on their boards, they pay people to do research into how to effectively market a product. They’re showing someone shaving an already bald leg because they want their advertising to convey that that is how clean a shave will look.
This isn’t even a gendered thing, they do the same bloody thing for commercials where men are shaving their “beards”.
Toothpaste commercials show people brushing with nothing, not even water. Just rubbing a toothbrush against their already immaculate teeth.
Every product is like this, it has nothing to do with sexism.
